Different condenser

Postby googe » Fri May 20, 2016 6:26 pm

Made this some time ago, just for something different and had to satisfy a brain fart lol. It's pretty much, three liebigs, with reservoirs on the ends.

I run gas, so cant say what power. But lower than my 500mm x 4 1/2" shotgun. I should have made it a bit longer.

Doesn't make sense isn't it just a short tank either end wouldn't it be less effective than a 3 core shotgun. Which has cooling liquid full length?

not if the passive cooling on the colums is cooler than the warm surrounding water would be.

Looks like a lot more effort than a shotgun.
All a shotgun dose is reduce the length of a leiberg.
Ie instead of having a 2m leiberg you can have a 500m 4core shotgun condenser.

That looks awesome googe! You got some skills at brazing copper to ss. Flawless joints from what I can see.

I've never seen anyone use a plate for a flange either, and having those vapor tubes exposed before it enters the leibig looks wicked! Might be getting a little aroused!

Thanks mate. should have explained in more detail, lazy lol. It's not ss, it's copper nickel for the outer jackets, shines up nice and looks similar to ss in the right light. I used to get it for nothing at my last job, it's used in ship building. I hadn't welded anything in the pics, there just assembled pics, I soft soldered it all up afterwards, was probably the most challenging soldering I've ever done, lots of swear words involved :)). I like the end plate flange, was such a simple solution it's so easy!. This one has been scraped now, I tend to build and recycle lol. I am planning a bigger and better one in the very distant future.
