You can always hang a heat belt in free space but not ideal, I started with this and the belt deteriorated pretty badly probably got too hot :handgestures-thumbdown:

Anyone ever heard of using a small electric heater? Like the $15 ones from kmart, dismantled to suit?

That's a ripper that second one. Excellent thinking outside the box.
The one by bayshines a ripper too. I would run that heater off ambient temp though and not wash temp with such a powerful heater. It'd be like an oven after 10 minutes of running.

yea thats what i thought, temp of the air in the fermenting chamber. the wash will equalize to the air temp eventually so nothing overheats.

Bays looks the goods! Solid looking chamber with plenty of insulation. I might have a glance at some little heaters :-D

The prob on my stc was the one for liquid so i just stick it on outside of the fermenter with a square of insulation and some tape, and this seems to work really well :handgestures-thumbupleft:

That looks good Bay. The stc I got has a multi use probe. So I'm gonna say it's not the liquid kind. A little heater like yours looks to be a heaps better option than the globes I was going to use. Has a fan too, so it can move the heat around quicker. I'll still be using computer fans to keep constant circulation while the heaters not on.

God dammit postman. Hurry up already!

Watched the delivery guy for auspost drive straight past my house :crying-blue:

Guess I'll have to wait until next week now.

On other news, my computer fans turned up. But in my drunken glory, I forgot to buy step down transformers for them :angry-banghead: Also seems no one on ebay from Australia sells 240v - 12v transformers either, so I'll be waiting for a package from Hong Kong mid to late July :crying-blue:

This is why my wife doesn't like me starting a project before finishing the last.

Stc 1000 finally arrived

So basically it's complete. Missing a few panels of insulation and bunnings doesn't know when it will come in next for me to finish that. Still need to caulk it all too, waiting on a transformer to turn up from Hong Kong to power the circulation fans, so that's still a few weeks, got some nifty little switches for LED lights and the fans coming soon too. Went with a $13 heater from bunnings for the heating.

Might make some mods to it later on once it's finalized.

No wiring pics yet. Not until it's all done so I can pretty her up for you all :O)
