If you ar e doing a stripping run you fill the still and keep running it until you have all the alcohol out of the wash. Or at least until the abv is around 15% or so. What you get is called low wines you then combine them you will need to make sure the abv is at or below 40% and that run is a spirit run.
Seems you are stopping a stripping run after a certain level is collected if I am reading your message correctly. That may be what is adding to your confusion.
What is left in the still after you stop collecting is essentially water and will only dilute your wash if you add it to the still without emptying it
Hope that helps

I have an airstill and a parrot and recently did a weetbix run. I found that for every 4 lt stripping run if I ran it till 20% on the parrot I got about 850 mls per run. I then combined all 4 stripping runs and did the spirit run which I ran till around 65% ABV making cuts along the way. What was left I chucked in some oak chips for about a week then reduced down to 40% and it is drinking nicely. I am very new to this and I find the airstill is very easy and also predictable in time to heat up and run and what it produces. I today did a spirit run on a 2nd generation mash of cornflake whisky with the 3rd gen bubbling away nicely on the bench. It really is an addictive hobby.

RuddyCrazy wrote:Woody when you do upgrade go 4" :handgestures-thumbupleft: now with my homemade BD burner it's just over an hour to heatup 45 litres (which is the max I put in a 50 litre boiler) then I take it nice and slow at 1.5 litres an hour. So basically all up 5 hours run time start to finish on doing a grain mash, now doing a 45 litre 40% run would be close to an allday run but eh the yield would be over 20 litres of 90%+ :laughing-rolling:
