Ok so going to use chilli in spirit for first time. Seems my local coles only has "birdseye hot chilli's plan to toast some hazlenuts 100g and add abit of honey for sweetness (if it needs it rum is already pretty sweet) and chilli for some heat, into a litre of aged rum. No ideas how many chillis i would need. Dont want a super hot burn just enough to know its there.. any ideas how much chilli to add? I guess it depends how hot they are. you reakon we 3 with seeds would be a good starting point?

ok I found some milder chillis some cayenes. I can comfortable eat one seeds and all and its not insanely hot but nice rich "capsicum" flavour. I reakon 3 of these in a litre will be great.

I will update the thread in a few days. I bought a pack of hazlenuts 125g pack raw and have toasted them under the grill medium heat for 10minutes, after grilling I weighed out 100g. I will keep an eye on the chilli make sure it does not get to hot. Maybe will also add a teaspoon of honey for flavour the rum tastes like lolly water no way it needs sweetning.. :D

Thanks for the tips on the birdseye's dbv :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Holy crap!! 43 chillis and one more :laughing-rolling: :teasing-tease:
That's a bit like the reporter who wrote "thirty thousand pigs were killed" as opposed to what was really said "thirty sows and pigs..."

Was give a "Dragons Breath" Butterscotch Whisky with a chilli inside. When fresh, the butterscotch is slightly yellow and as it ages the whisky changes to a more orange colour, due to colour leaching from the chilli ... Mind you, 1 Chilli in a 250ml bottle ... after three months it was undrinkable! :angry-banghead:

We bring it out every now and then, once we've had enough dutch courage, but it brings on too much vomiting and crying - by grown men, its just not cool!

Hah, wasn't advertised but it was longer/larger than a birds-eye chilli but about half the length of the usual larger chillies found at coles... helpful? :angry-banghead: :laughing-rolling:
