Had an idea last night while running the still, you know those corn chips in the “natural or health food ”section of Woolies? They are bland as hell because they have no salt on them. Can you not make a corn style whiskey out of them the same way as cornflakes whiskey?
I imagine it will be similar but not the same because cornflakes and corn chips are similar but not the same. You could toast them like nacho’s ?
To be clear I’m not suggesting a nachos flavoured whiskey.
Just an idea, I always get a bit shitfaced when making booze.

I'd be checking for preservatives and additions ... the idea about using cornflakes is as a flavouring - the sugar provides the alcohol...

I’m tipping there’d be less additives in them if they come from the health food aisle than regular corn flakes. Should be fine, just check they’re not bound with egg or milk I suppose, but I think they’re just cornmeal & water.

It is probably cheaper to use cornflakes than hippy,vegan all natural corn chips

And they would be mighty hard to crunch up compared to corn flakes

Probably not much flavour either unless you used a large quantity which would drive the price up.

But yeah, you could make it out of just about anything you buy at the shops if it's just for the flavour and your adding sugar for the alc content :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I reckon it’s worth an experiment, do a cfw and a cfw with corn chips as a replacement. Run them the same, take notes on the fermentation and let us know :handgestures-thumbupleft:
