Amaretto

Postby Wobblyboot » Tue Oct 23, 2018 7:19 pm

Was given this to try, meant to be good, let us know if it is :handgestures-thumbupleft:
1 cup water (can go to 1.5 if you prefer),
1 cup sugar,
0.5 cups brown sugar,
2 cups of vodka,
2 tablespoons of Almond extract,
2 teaspoons of Vanilla extract

invert sugar in water in a sauce pan on medium heat, allow to cool and add in the rest while stirring....

initial thought when I tasted it was "its rum" must be the bit molasses in the brown sugar..

What does inverting the sugar do?
Could you simply leave the white sugar out to make it less sweet?

Inverting the sugar stops it re crystallizing when it cools :-B
