Corn mash

G'day all. Does anyone have a recipe for corn mash that they have tried. Want to give it a go and see what the fuss is about. Tried it years ago but was too pissed to remember what it was like and it had fruit in it. It'll be going through my pot still. Spose if I was to average out from what I've read on the web for a 25/30 ltr wash I would go,

4 kg cracked corn
2 kg sugar
80g bakers yeast

That's roughly based on couple sites saying 1 lb sugar to 2 lb corn. Would love some opinions.

bloke,

Started with pure corn...sweeter taste and has a definite appeal but its "limited" in terms of flavour. Next was 6mths of corn/Ryes...rougher stronger flavour well suites a single run to maximise flavours...can get bitey takes longer on ageing to 'turn" I reckon.

After some 5 years It's a more varied grain bill as it adds complexity, better balanced a nicer drink imho. Each to his own however and you might find something along the grain trail that really is personal fave. Impressed with the fact your prepared to experiment...it truly is the key to better enjoying your efforts.

here's current and very happy...

Cooked crack 'maze' from the stock feed store.
Add cracked malted barley %20 / %80 corn. to corn @ 65c
Add sugar to bring up the yield. ~1.08 start
Add a pinch of DAP and 1/2 a tub of bakers yeast.

80L Mash

took ~ 3 weeks to get to 1.0 !,

But the taste!, like f'ing angels had pissed on my tonsils!

Awesome! Cheers for that. Looking forward to trying both! Keen as mustard to experiment and try different things.

Hoping getting a golden shower from an angel in my mouth turns out to be a good thing, but like most things nothing ventured nothing gained:)

The mash ended up eating near 4 kg sugar to bring it up to 1080. Just goin to the movies while she cools down to pitch the yeast.

Ha, had to go with the missus to the movies while her and the mash cooled off! Makin the house smell like milo cornflakes and the laundry like fermenting rum seems to give her the shits?

Can't please some by having a hobby.

On the bright side mash is now nearly cool enough to chuck my yeast in and STAND BACK!

Ha ha, mines more of a dishwasher. Always says she wants one but I tell her I already have one! Sigh. She has no humor when it comes to chauvinism.

Meat mincer did not work.

Not strong enough, think I striped a few gears in the motor.
