All this reading here made me think that in "clean" areas the largest quantity of dissolved gas in fresh rainwater is nitrogen. Perhaps the repeated thread that we see across this and other forums is that using rainwater is beneficial is not because of the supposed lack of chlorine but because the rainwater contains nitrogen. The primary constituent of DAP and the N in NPK.
Hmm - Might install me a rainwater tank!! :geek:

Not always a benifit
the Vic's in older homes have issues due to old school lead flashings. Also airbourne contamiants as well. They list it as a health issue on the Vic Govt. site.
I got my rainwater tested once early in the adventure ...never used it since as a result.

No issues with tap water in Vic where I live but I reckon rain water may be an issue. I live near a number of power stations and a stinky paper mill that spew all kinds of shit into the sky.

Ahh thanks BT1 and others. Looks like you have saved me quite some money. I thought I noted a preference for rainwater but judging from your comments - clearly I was wrong. Just goes to show the tremendous advantages of being in a forum where many experiences can help. :handgestures-thumbupleft:
