Woolworths in my area have 805gm Nutri-grain for $3.75 at present. Time to stock up me thinks. I grabbed a couple of boxes today and will put down a batch in the next day or two to see what this recipe is like.

I paid $7.90 for mine same size at coles yesterday and it was advertised at over $8 a box online :shock:

I know what you are saying. I have bought 805gm Nutri-grain for $5 in the past and thought I was doing OK. I had to look twice at this price to unsure it wasn't the small box. A bloke should buy a few more boxes. Here it is ...

I've given this out to a few people and there are no complaints. Everyone has asked if the could buy some. That answer to that is always no. It's one thing to operate a still it's another to charge for it. :D

Its good stuff. Dead easy to make and I'd suggest the best recipe for the beginner . They could pull this off without much effort.

Top marks and better than anything I could afford to buy commercially. Best thing I did was build a still as it's given me access to fine tasting spirits. Regret not doing it earlier. Everyone loved the corn rye whiskey but preferred this by a mile.

On another note I was given a commercial coffee grinder. Ground up corn with ease so I'm not giving up grains just yet!

Gunna strip my third gen of this today, and spirit run tonight... Can't wait to get some on oak :)

Is everyone just adding 1 box of Nutri Grain after 2nd gen and getting good flavor as per recipe. I just put down my first. It smells so good already.

Yeah mate, I just add a box to each gen. When it looks like you've got a big enough yeast/nutrigrain bed at the bottom of the fermenter, you could start removing some and replacing it with fresh stuff.

Last week I ran another first gen and here we are a week later on oak and it just doesnt taste right :crying-blue:
No flavour to speak of, kind of like a TP strip flavour, dunno what I did wrong.
Think I'll just dump this in with the second gen in a couple of weeks.

That's weird.....did you reflux it too much maybe?

Maybe it just needs time on oak, a lot of the things Ive made really don't seem to have a lot of flavour until they have been oaked and aged for a few months.

Dunno...never refluxed it. My Best results came from either potstilling it or running it thru 4 plates on the bubbler.
Reflux stills just scrub out too much flavour.......you'd get a very nice Vodka tho 8-}

The last 2 batch's I ran through the T500.
This new batch I just pot'd it

Just put down a triple batch of the original recipe on top of my FSW grain bed. Hoping to carry some peat over. Will keep you posted. :happy-partydance:

I am up to Gen 2 of a variant,
Makes 50L
5kg Cracked Corn
805g box Nutrigrain (grind)
7Kg Sugar (white)
500g liquid Malt Extract (from Woolies)
80g Lowans Yeast

After gen 1, add
10L hot backset to a bucket, with
805g Nutrigrain Grind
7kg white sugar
500g liquid malt extract

add 10l cold water to yeast bed, then slowly add hot mix (keeping eye on temp)
add cold water to top up to 50l
SG 1075-1080
FG 990-999

I just stripped my first 25l wash of this one last night 8-)

Smells like a winner for sure, can't wait to get a few gen's worth and do a proper spirit run!

Loving the nutrigrain wash. Just put down the 5th wash

I have not gone through all the pages here and I'll just post it anyway:)

Tried many ways to crush the pieces some have taken forever. Yesterday I boiled up sugar and had the kettle on. Poured sugar 10ltrs, kettle 4l and added the nutrigrain. I used used a bar-mix style blunder and it was done in a few minutes.

Piss easy and everyone loves the stuff!
