Wash Calculator

Postby Dominator » Sun May 12, 2013 7:46 am

Ok, so I have made a wash calculator for the TPW, McRum and BWKO. I am only just starting out so I am not sure about how to adjust ingredients. If you could give me any advice on any adjustments then I can get them loaded to the calculators page.

Nice to see people helping out with things like this!

What do you mean by adjust ingredients?

Do you mean as in how to properly scale the ingredients for the washes?

If so, you work it out like this:

Scale = Desired_Wash_Volume / Original_Wash_Volume

Once you have your scale, you can start working out the ingredients:

Eg. TPW:

Scale = 20(L) / 25(L)
Scale = 0.8

Sugar = 5(kg) * 0.8
Sugar = 4

Etc, etc.

That is how you would make the spreadsheet if you didn't want to rely on constant values ie(D57*0.2), etc.

If that isn't what you meant, just say so and I'll try and help out with what you need :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yeah that's exactly how I have done it. I am just not sure if the scaling is linear for all the ingredients though. I have done it so if you double the wash volume it will simply double the sugar, grain, yeast etc.

If you use the formula for scaling, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've put in a few values and it all works out fine (mathematically), and let's face it, in this hobby people aren't always following recipes 100%.

As long as it produces consistent results, that's all we will need.

It will definitely be handy for people who want to make these washes but don't want to use it at the original amounts.

I know it's an old thread but I am getting 404 not found for this.

Is there another excel spreadsheet for distilling/wash calculator somewhere? Could someone please post a link :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Wanting to keep track of what goes into a wash, price of unit and ultimatley a wash as a whole the method I used and also a wash converter for scaling down/up.

Be a great help if someone has already done this :pray:

I know it’s been a while, does anyone have a copy of Dominators spreadsheet? Or maybe something similar?

The link to the spreadsheet is broken or can’t find the file

Thanks

Here's a copy of the file I have. It's been that long that I don't remember if there were any other additions added to it, but figured it can't hurt to upload it again.
