Hay guys. i am making nuteal spiriit through a reflux. the question is im after to making a spiced rum. Simalar top that captain morgan drop. A mate asked if i can knock something up simalar. I know true rums are ran through a pot still but i havnnt finished making one as yet. So any essences or recipes that maybe of use?

Ive seen and tasted a molasses rum wash through a t500, and if you run it a little harder and faster you can pull a lighter nice rum then you can age on sticks , then spice that similar to below. you can try essence ,,, but in my opinion none of them are close . some are ok but not close.

with the captain i wouldnt use star of annise ,,, though i have read a little ginger would get you closer ...

I will give all these a shot. A molasses rum wash through the t500. Would love to know the recipe and method. When i get time ill have a read....

Frothwizard have you tried this essence at all?

Yeah I have and I really enjoy it. Goes well with coke or dry ginger ale. It's not quite as sweet as Captain Morgans but it's probably about 90% of the way there.
