Or do 4 individual batches , strip them all and 1 big spirit run.

With a pot still, it doesnt really matter what size batches you strip.
as long as you strip the lot, then do a nice spirit run with all the combined low wines :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yea I probly worded it wrong. Would it be better if I didn't do the stripping run on the fifty litre wash and just ran it slow.
Or would it be better if I stripped 4-5 washes and done a spirit run with the low wines.
What I'm after is it nessesary to strip and save even tho were not souring the mash with backset etc. or just single run them. Which do you think would be the better product?

Put down 2 batches smoothly. Pitched yeast around 28c

2 hours later they were bubnling away slowly

Checked them this morning and sitting at about 25c and bubbling every 2 seconds. Had some puking at some time last night. Bubbler has some foam in it and a bit of liquid on the lid.

So I have got 20Litres of 65% "bourbon" that has been soaking on oak for about 7 months now. Put some barley in this batch to try but really don't like it. The taste is ok but the barley just overpowers eveything else....tastes really grassy. Is it worth running it through the boka in full reflux and see what comes out? Will it take enough of the barley taste away to make it worthwhile? What happens to the oak aging when re-run..does it return it to the "raw" alcohol stage?

Just done a 50 litre wash of this gunna do another 2 or 3 before I do the spirit run.
One question tho. Do you replace everything when doing the 2nd and 3rd lot. As in clean fermenter then do same recipe again, strip and repeat?
Cheers
P.s drinking some mcrum that's been bottled after being on oak for 6 weeks and omg I am in heaven.
I thought the bwko stuff was good. This rum is off the hook. Lucky I only made a couple bottles. Still got lots on oak. Booyah! Lol

Tough one. I reckon theres still a lot of flavour in that trub. Personally, i would keep adding a bit of grain and LME to that trub. Waste not want not. Or you could just start afresh each run

That's a good idea just replace the small amount of spend grain and add sugar and malt to the bed without any backset. Yea thx bushy that's what I'll do. Cheers

Lads.
Have stripped my 200L of this gear and am currently doing my spirit run with 40L of low wines.
Running it nice and slow at about 2l/h. Has been sitting on 80% the whole time and I'm up to jar 20, taking about 500ml at a time.
Every one is right about it being drinkable straight off the still! 8-}
But I've been busy and have some french and American oak toasted to varying degrees ready to age this sweet nectar.
Did my neck on Monday so the white dog is working better than any drugs the quacks gave me! !!
Cheers for the recipe Mac! :text-thankyoublue:
Gonna be delicious in a few months.
