Had a quick shot of my limoncello after work today and it is magnificent.

Also had a shot of the, now finished, Strawberry Panty Dropper and that stuff is fantastic!!
Can now see why it got its name...

Limoncello

Postby kingy » Sun Jun 02, 2013 12:12 pm

Could anyone give me a guide on how much water to use so I can still end up with a higher alcohol drink.
I used 1litte of 72% alcohol and I've had it sitting on the rind for 7 days.

I was thinking 500mls of water and 400grams of sugar.

Just looking for a bit of feedback thanks

Cheers kingy

Kingy, if you're asking what I think...you can just use the dilution calculator here on the site in the Newbies Corner: Calculators (there are plenty around on the net too, and even an app for smart phones called "Distiller's Toolbox")...plug in the amount you have of any percentage, and the percentage you want to end up with, and it will tell you how much water to add :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Urraz, if your using 90+% 5-6 days is all it takes to suck the flavour and colour from the skins, Ive read a couple of Lemoncello recipes out there that just Ripe is the way to go, some recommend even a tiny bit on the green side, Ive yet to try that my self yet.
There is a huge amount of info and different recipes out there if you look around.

Thx for the feedback on my dirty tasting lemoncello. It sounds to me like it won't get any better with age then. I'm not even game enough to run it through the still again lol.

I have had good results with this and thought it was great.
I wouldn't give up on this just yet kingy. Hard to say what caused
Your bad flavours. If u do try again I would go with the advise of fresh lemons
Btw all my failures get rerun and a second chance to prove themselves.

Postby kingy » Wed Jun 12, 2013 7:40 pm

Well it ain't been long since I first made this and thought it was shit.
Had some today and took some to me old boys joint (his lemon tree lol) and omg. This is the best drink I've made so far since distilling.
Taking 30 lemons home tonight And make up 4 litres this weekend.
This stuff does really get better with age!!
Like all HB spirits I suppose.

Same here. Got a bottle left out of 3L and it's disappearing at a rate of knots. Excellent drop.

made another batch of this tonight.

the mix of random lemons that my misses bought was new and older lemons soaked on 93% for 8 days.

made as per the OP and it is really nice even before time to sit.

we like to drink at half half with carbonated mineral water on ice

So is everyone using the lemon juice for the Ice Tea vodka? I would put it in when you drink it. It will cloud up if you put in and let it set any length of time. If you don't know what Ice Tea vodka it is a Tea bag or so in a bottle of 40% vodka with sugar to taste or like you would put in same amt of Ice tea and let it set in the sun until you get the right color. good stuff
