I usually strip about 12L from a 40L wash, so 1.5 hrs.....why would you be stripping only 4 litres from 45, or were you just being math retarded? :teasing-neener:

its ok tease the cripple..... :obscene-birdiedoublered: :obscene-birdiedoublered:

however... dosent rum ferment out to 8%?(as a ballpark figure)

the math isnt exact.... but 8% of 45 lt is 3.2 lt... plus some slop coz of pot still mode....

so 4ish litres..

i know i dont need to explain this.... but its fun!!

:teasing-tease: :teasing-tease: :teasing-tease:

just taking the piss..... i may have imbibed a dram..... for medicinal reasons!!

It certainly isn't :)) ...you're talking about pure 100% ethanol...a pot still strip run will start at say 70% and drop to 10-20% over the collection ;-)

swish.... i didnt think that there was only 3.6 lt ethanol in 12 litres of strip....

turns out my maths is retarded..... apologies i guess...

Haha all good mate :handgestures-thumbupleft:

As a general guide, I normally have about a third or a little less when doing a strip run. ie. 13L from 39L of wash approx...

Well there you go 8-}

I guess you would probably get cleaner low wines when you water it down, whereas I collect further on the strip run as my 'watering down' and put more value on that 10-20% stuff at the end of the strip. ie. I don't water down, just have my low wines finish at about 30%abv total...would just probably include some rougher flavours. Horses for courses...

After doing a couple of strip runs today, probably took a little less than what I said before. Have been stripping a little under 12L from a 40L wash

Hey guys, couple questions if i may, about macrum...

What sort of heads/tails cuts are you including in your final product if any?

And, 3kg sugar is on the low side compared to some washes. What is the reasoning for not going more? Is it a flavour thing? Happily following the recipe but just curious to understand it!

Thanks :)

its 3kg of sugar and 3 litres of molasses, which I think I saw mention is over 2kg sugar.
last run my OG was 1.095 and FG 1.022 which was around 9.5%
stripped 5.5 litres at an average of 48%.

its more than i get from sugar washes, i run them at 3kg sugar only though.
