Woot! Brewed my first "real" wash last night, a DWWG upscaled to 50L. I used 9kg sugar, 1kg wheat germ (the original recipe upscaled to 900g, but the stuff comes in 500g bags, so I just bought two and chucked the lot in), and 4tsp citric acid. I had to boil it in two batches 'cause I only have a 20L pot, I boiled each batch for an hour (though I read later on HD that it really needs the full 90 mins to extract everything from the wheat germ - whoops..), chucked them in my 80L drum/fermenter, topped up to 50L with cold water (I just used tap water), waited for it to cool to 25 degrees C (12 hours!!), aerated with my custom built wash aerator (see my earlier post  ) then pitched 140g Lowans bakers yeast. No airlock on my drum, I just rested the lid on loose, and two hours later it's already going nuts! I forgot to take a SG reading though, oh well...
