Was thinking about making a batch of this tonight to see what its like.
Started wondering about this bit,,, "1/2 cup of coffee ( any jar coffee will do)"
Is this 1/2 cup instant coffee powder/ granules or a half cup of instant coffee with water added???
Im presuming its a half cup of granules.........Just wanted to be sure :? :?

Hi SBB,

Yep 1/2 cup of raw granules, I always use either nescafe or nescafe gold.
But have also used home brand and black and gold coffee before.

After you have made let me know what you think

Cheers Mrs McStill

Made a double batch of this last night. Had a BBQ today with a few friends around, The Kaluha got the thumbs up from all that tried it. One Kaluha fan managed to wrangle a 750ml bottle out of me as a take away.

I alway like to send my product away in a classy looking container..........after a few home made rums a nice clean Tomato Sauce bottle seemed like a good idea on this occasion.....I was only guessing at the 750ml...had one eye closed while pouring...........the Kaluha lover in question seemed more than happy

Your most welcome,

It simple & easy to make....have been making it for years, now my daughter (18+ of course) & daughter in law make it all the time

Turns a $30 or so bottle of cheap vodka (if you dont make your own) into almost 2ltrs of good Kahula.......

SWIMBO has given her decree. You WILL make it again won't you dear.
I used esspresso style coffee granules. Wot would be the effect of adding
corn syrip/glycerine to the mix before or after the cooking and
how much.

Excellent recipe. Many thanks. No having coffee granules I used 14 shots of expresso which I made extra strong and 50 mls each. Worked a charm much better than the SS concentrate I bought last time (and a lot cheaper)

I made this with some store brought vodka. I can easily drink this on its own. Extremely nice with a glass full of ice and mixed with almond milk. My wife is in heaven. Lol
Thx for this recipe it's a winner!

Hi McStill,
I tried this recipe and it came out smelling and tasting like burnt coffee. I then tried it agin but kept the temp. of the stove even lower than my 1st attempt and it turned out the same - I tried adding more vanilla but could not get rid of the burnt coffee flavour. I used nescafe blend 43 and followed your recipe to a tee but Im wondering where I went wrong. It tasted bloody awful. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as the mrs loves kahlua and I want to make it myself.
Thanks Justin.

I think that's the problem, Blend 43 tastes horrible and burnt at the best of time. I'd suggest using a coffee you actually like the taste of to start with.

leave longer??? :wtf: this stuff lasts as long as a snow flake in a heat wave around my place, i used coffee ginds and vanilla beans instead of the instant coffee and vanilla essence, it can take a bit more punishment for those who are like me and are indian cooks (singe em burn em) :)).

good recipe Mrs Mcstill :handgestures-thumbupleft:
