Running this through a reflux still is a waste of good grain. May as well just run a wbab wash :-B

Your better off waiting for your pot to be fininshed :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I agree with rum if you can wait but if you cant can you run your reflux column without any packing or reflux like a pot still so you collect everything?
I used to use my lm still without any reflux and it worked fine.

Yeah thanks Rum I figured as much. I can remove all the copper packing Warra but I'll just wait for the pot to be sorted and run tpw and cfw through the reflux. Not in any hurry. Thanks for the advice guys

Weevils add flavour!
Mine was full of moth larvae. Thought F it and mixed em in. Just put it all in a good quantity of boiling water to kill everything then mix it up and off you go. Remember, they're probably all 90% corn! :))

All spirit will benefit from being aired before making cuts.

48 hours is a good number it helps to define the cuts easier once some of the more volatiles have evaporated off :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hey guys just a quick one, finished my 5th gen of this BWKO and did a 30lt spirit run yesterday, my question is just smelling my cuts this morning and they smell like nothing. well my missus says they smell like metho... great. I kind of agree with her but dont want to admit it. x_x
All I can say is it does not smell like bourbon at all, is this normal?
I'm thinking my corn might not have been up to scratch and ive just done 5 gens of fuck all haha. well i guess you dont know what you dont know...
Cheers.

A lot of the flavour and smell comes from the oak...

How slowly did you run your spirit run?

Leave the jars til tonight at least, 24 hours lets the more volatile alcohols evaporate off.

Give the cuts some more time to air, then make them as normal and get it on Oak. It will come good with Oak and Time, brown spirits generally don't taste and smell like the finished product for a few months at least. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Beat me to it Zac :handgestures-thumbupleft:
