I have lemon trees can they be used and if so -- how much ?? thanks

TBH mate the acid isn't really needed.. check ph after everything is mixed up and add lemon juice if it needs it. But it will ferment out fine without it, either way :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hi all,
I have been 11 years of working on my own making all my 25 lt mashes with turbo yeast. I have always been happy with the results (knowing no better). I have been reading, for the first time in 10 years, with interest how our "industry" has changed. I never knew there was any other way of doing it except the turbo way. So could not wait to try TPW.

I am making my first 25 ltr TPW using
6kg Aldi sugar
80 gms Lowan Red instant dried yeast
200gms Tomato Paste
Pinch Epsom salts
Juice of a lemon

Starting Sg of 1080
Mash started good and has been working steady for 10 days at an air temperature range of 16c night and 23 day. The Sg is 990 but the mash has not started to settle out and there are still lots of bubbles on top of the mash and definite movement.

Should I wait before distilling.

Regards

Jdaus

That's ready to run mate :handgestures-thumbupleft: You can give it a brisk stir to degas it and let it clear if you have the time (a week) or you can run it straight away if it's at .990, I haven't noticed much difference either way :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hey Jdaus,
Would like to hear a little more about what you have been making (flavours and your setup).Would be great if you could head over to the welcome center section of the forum and start a thread telling us a little bit about your equipment (Pic would be awesome) and the runs you do. The lads here give some great advice and are happy to pick up new tricks.

:text-+1: Every Woolies/Coles will stock it.

Good luck with the run mate

Yell out if you have any dramas :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Edit: If its a 25 litre wash then just chuck all of that yeast in......then go buy some Lowans.

TPW is almost farkin foolproof mate ;-)

I've followed this recipe several times now, the hardest part is sitting on your hands, doing nothing, for the couple of weeks or so that the yeast needs to do its thing.

In my T500 I ditch the first 100 ml as foreshots, and as I'm looking for really clean product, I cut the first 3 x 250 ml jars.
That gets me into the hearts which are unbelievably clean, odourless etc. Especially after airing for a day.

It's all so simple it's untrue! Cheap too.

Don't forget to recycle the heads.

Good luck and enjoy.
(and thanks again to the forum for setting me on the path)

Marbled, get another fermenter and stagger your washes so that you've got one to run every weekend, if you don't like waiting :handgestures-thumbupleft:

My fermenting room is down to 9 deg and the tom wash 6 weeks seems stuck on 995 run it or not
Its clear as
That's 1/2 way between 990 and the green line 1000
