It wont need DAP , Best to stick with the tried and proven methods till you get the hang of things, then start experimenting.

I have never had one finish properly of this.

I would rather add a tablespoon to each batch of TPW or CFW for a bit of goodness just to make you feel better :-D

My wash has been down for 2 weeks now, the last 4 or 5 days there has been no pressure at all in the air lock. I was going to cook it this morning but when I opened it, it was still fairly murky with an FG of 900. Figuring it's not ready, I've put the lid back on & now the air lock is bubbling slowly again

Is this normal for a TPW?

It will usually start bubbling again if you disturb it... If it's at under 1000 and It's been down for 2 weeks, it's ready to run... It will get clearer if you leave it for longer, but it's right to run now :)

It most likely started bubbling again due to it being disturbed and the CO2 from the ferment is just coming out of solution.

So my TPW has been on for 17days, how long should it have left to go???

I'll check the gravity of it tonight and see how its sitting

Was at SG1060 so guessing a FG of 990-1000 is what im aiming for??

If its done I'll bottle it till I sort my still out and put another load of 30L on :p

Tomato paste wash

I usually leave mine 3-4 weeks and just wait until it clears up. I should probably start taking OG FG readings.

Just chucked 2 25L batches down, one was 1.074 the other 1.080. my measuements must have been slightly off. I used homebrand tomato paste and the rest as recipe depicts.

Stuffed up though used a fermenter that doesnt have a matching lid.... d'oh.... gotta wait for the homebrew shop to open now, its glad wrap for now!!

Plenty of us just use glad wrap instead of lids... With glad wrap you can see what your wash is doing without undoing a lid :)

I wouldn't put a hole in the gladwrap from what ive heard the gas will find a way out

Im really tempted to bottle mine to free up a fermentor but I suspect its not done quite yet, also going to experiment and am considering putting the new brew straight onto the lees/yeast cake of the one ive got on atm

Adding a heater belt to bring the temp up

Well i dont want it to blow up like a ballon and free itself from the elastic strap... its already puffed up a fair bit even with the tiny hole there.

Scales..so long as its only a pin prick you will be right..I used to prick mine but like clickeral said it will find its way out.My biggest concern with holes is that vinigar flies will try and get in any way they can....even a tiny hole the pricks wiggle in.

You shoyld be right to leave it for several weeks but I wouldn't go much longer than a month.

LM/VM head with 1m packed 2" on Still Spirits boiler for Neutrals.

:text-+1: Pricking the film is not necessary the gas will escape no problem, I put an aluminium weight in the middle to stop the balloon effect from the gas this also helps the condensation to blob up and drain away so it is more visible through the cover. :handgestures-thumbupleft:
