Thanks googe not sure what I will do with it yet. bben wanting to do a lemonchello for a while so maybe that & cointreau or even a citris vodka but not sure if that will work as an infusion.

hey EziT & googe Im not big on heads either, so I try to be reasonably harsh on heads so if Im not sure on the transition I take another jar out as it all goes into a feints container to be re run.

I stripped 1st batch but had to add bwko and rum feints as I was running dangerously low on supplies of neutral and hit panic stations :scared-eek:
My neutral is usually grain based but I did like what came outa pot still with the kale. Will try a 50l next as soon as I finish the last of the fruit seasons efforts.

Good luck Nino. Was down to –2c in the shed last night and it's still going strong!. Was a good test as I've never fermented in these temps.

On the cold days i put in the sun covered with a black pastic bag to keep the light out and that seemed to work.

I use an aquarium heater and an old fire blanket which is very effective in keeping the heat in. It is fizzing away nicely this morning, I hope that it will be ready for next weekend, I need practice running my still so I can start making brown spirits as well :).

It has already finished fermenting in 4 days has any one else had this happen to them? I will let it sit for a couple of days and then test the FG I can't run it until Sunday so I don't want to open it to soon.

50lt wash with 10kg of sugar, just over 200gr of Kale and about 120gr of Lowans.

Aquarium heater set at 30 and the fermenter wrapped in a blanket.

Scratch this post must have been the rain on the roof of the shed I couldn't hear it fizzing or maybe it is time to get hearing aids :scared-eek:

The TPW wash has acid from the tomatoes was thinking did a kale have acid and going by the internet Kale has Oxalic Acid and does this help with fermentation.

Don't know about fermentation but it's great for passivating stainless steel. :teasing-tease:

Interesting, found this too http://lowoxalateinfo.com/is-kale-low-oxalate/ wasn't aware of this. In the amounts we use I can't see any problem

Damned looks like my wash has got an infection on it. There is a white milky substance on it, still smells alright and still fermenting strongly. should I run it or wait? I haven't taking an FG on it yet but it is a 50lt wash.
