Competition Ideas

Postby R-Sole » Mon May 07, 2012 5:19 am

Folks we are after ideas for a competition.

Give us some ideas for something you'd like to play.

There will be some distilling prizes to choose from Punkin's Brew as a prize. It needs to be a competition that everyone can enter on an equal footing and have an end date.

We've tried to give stuff away a couple times now and had trouble getting entries.
I know everyone here likes free stuff, so it must be the competitions are too hard.

Tell us what you want 8-}

I think it should be something that generates talk and interest. I suggest photos.

Could be of the brewing/distilling process, maybe the manufacturing of gear? Anything really. I'm always fascinated by a good photo gallery.

Even hobbies or stuff unrelated to distilling? I love a good shed photo or seeing people's ingenious solutions to storage...

I'll spend hours trawling through interesting pix so if the competition is uploading photos or voting on photos then bring it on.

ok dreamed up a few I reckon I'd be able to have a good swing at , 1 : Yard cluttered with the most shit 2 : Roughest living conditions currently experienced 3 : Distilling equipment made out of the cheapest oldest roughest scrap about :laughing-rolling: . Hang on or maybe the krustiest collection of burnt out old fire arms outside of a museum (that's why I chose my avatar ,note the old viking side hammer) Got one

All now made redundant because now I have a FSD 5 plate 4 inch modular bubbler that can be turned into a pot for stripping or added packed sections for nuetrel or a add a gin basket for well... gin!! (the burner still comes in handy)

Sorry Punkin, I thought it was rather funny considering the weekend antics. My first suggestion, how about something along the lines of an online treasure hunt. Prize is awarded to the person who finds the best photos of a still, or finds the most interesting thing related to a still or distilling. Once you find something, you post it for others to judge, something like the highest score wins judged by votes...? While I'm not too worried about winning, I think to make it fair for everyone like you mentioned, to judge peoples home built stills wouldn't be, because I think there are quite a few people that haven't built anything.

Maybe this way some of us could have the opportunity to learn more about things along the way while searching.

is 'poofterism' a word?...if so is it a noun/verb/????

I think the competition should be about who'll pay the most $ for whatever Mr Punkin is offering and ALL said $ go to the Aussie Distillers Chat Forum 'donation tin'...to make sure the site keeps going etc etc :handgestures-thumbupleft:

failing that, the prizes should be all freely given to the member who has used the sh#ttiest still for the longest period of time :whistle:

How about...

we all submit a lt of our best, have it tasted and rated by those few core new south welshmen that that run the show?

Std rating sheet, marked up...taste, plate note, colour, etc could be rather keenly contested i reckon.

cheers

How about, something similar to the Logo design.
But make it Label design.I know there are a lot of downloadable labels out there, but none unique to this site ;-)
these can be hand drawn, computer drafted, whatever you like.

Criteria
1. must be adaptable for different spirits/ products/ bottle sizes
2.must have the forum web addy
3.Must not be rude ( although that could be another comp) :D

I like that idea too, probably the best idea, and one that enables everyone to have a go, he must be off the piss to have thought of that. 8-}

I'm thinking of going very simple to start. Either a funny photo comp or a random post comp. Have to talk to stiggy about the random post idea (whether it's possible) and he's all booked out till the new site comes online.

I'd like to kick it off soon and simple will get the ball rolling. Maybe we could look at a label comp or something down the track.
