First run t500

Postby Pist n broke » Sun Nov 26, 2017 10:59 am

Well first run with turbo... fermentation went well... hooked it all up and after 45 min of starting boiler I slowly turned water tap on till hot 500ml/min. The jungle juice started to flow.... 100ml I fed to the feral cats :)) only joking :scared-eek:
Sitting here watching the temp sitting around 55c with the odd time of sipping to 63c thena. Small teeek to get to 55c again. They tell me I should get around 3.5L ...
I completely stuffed up clearing... out part b in and woke up and was clear... got jug out and started to transfer to pot and the bloody shit on the bottom got stirred up :angry-banghead:
Anyway it’s clear coming out ...
Am I going ok at present ... might let the misses take the first sip :laughing-rolling:

I hope you mean: you turned down the cooling water so the temp could rise enought and vapour pushed past the "RC" to the output...

And not: only started the water running after 45mins.
Cause that is a big safety no-no.
Turn your water on when you turn the boiler on.

Now, clean up the still and chuck everything you collected back in and water down to about 30% and run it again.

The manual in the T500 said to turn boiler on and after 45min then turn water on.... I just followed instructions :-B

Bin the manual that came with the T500 mate, it's useless. Have a read of this http://aussiedistiller.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=10483 instead.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

It’s very dangerous to have a boiler going without some sort of cooling running. I’ll admit that in my early days, before I found this site, I did it, heck, I even drove down to Bunnings once while it was heating up!!! But, once I found the forum and realised the massively huge potential for KABOOM, I’ll always have the cooling water on from the start and never leave the still unattended.
Rookie mistake and thankfully no harm, a bit of wasted water is better than a shed or house full of ethanol vapour

If you think 5 hours is a long time you may need to rethink this hobby :laughing-rolling:
