Still Spirits have released a limited number of the new ALL COPPER T500
Prices are a little higher than the existing T500

Now that looks pretty sweet, might go have look into this new model.

just a pot still by the looks I'm sure you would save 2/3rds the cash to get one made or 7/8ths if ya made it your self .

Its a CM croweater, you can see the dephlegmator output with thermo probe near the top of the main column. It looks pretty, but I'm sure it will have most of the same problems of the original, and they have made it too short......again. :razz:

It carries the same coil as the original, it has NO plastic cap and the only (yes 1) temp probe is on the water outlet.
The one I seen had been run and the owner said it produces a slightly lower %, 91% v's 93% but its a much cleaner output.
Yes its too short, it too small a diameter and its too expensive.
But, its a step in the right direction.
I wont be buying one

and I don't know if the ceramic saddles are removed/replaced or not, so if they havent , i would reckon that replacing those saddles with copper mesh , you maybe would achieve even a cleaner product.but can't get away from the theory rattlling around in my head of too small in dia, and height to achieve a higher abv , dunno , too pissed to really comprehend thiss

I was informed yesterday by someone that has been to the product seminar from the manufacturer, that these were really only released for the "Horn" factor. I was also told the same as what Andy mentioned, that the quality of the output is quite low, and he also mentioned the T500 is a far better product. He did mention something else about this new model, but I cant remember what it was. I first thought I would like to have one, but from what I was told, I wont be looking at buying one either.

Yeah they are the same type of thing, though the ceramic saddles found in T500`s are semi circular (chunky) pieces of ceramic, the Raschig rings are cleaner looking tubular shaped.

Raschig rings, (known as packing) are tube shaped ceramic rings, usually feature similar measurements in width and height and were invented by Friedrich Raschig, a chemist from Germany. In the case of producing alcoholic beverages, these rings are stacked in distilling columns to aid ethanol vapors traveling towards the condensing unit while stopping vapors of other harmful substances from proceeding upwards. You can receive purer and stronger ethanol when these rings are used in your distillation towers.
