Haha yeah and I thought my soldering skills were ordinary! Whats the odds that lead solder?

Got a couple of packets of Vodka Star awhile ago and I've just finished running the last of my TPW wash's so I thought I'd try one out.

Followed the packet instructions, dissolve 6kg sugar, mix packet in at 30deg. Fizzing away like crazy after an hour and still fizzing away like crazy 2 days later and strangely enough the temp has gone up 2.5deg :? with ambient temps around 17-20 and a blanket draped over it. Oh well I'm just going to let it go until it stops fizzing and do a run, probably just a straight spirit run because I'm not going to make another one for awhile so not worth stripping, I'm going to start playing with UJSM and rum now.

One thing I noted though is it does not smell bad at all it actually smells ok which goes against descriptions of other turbo's. Will post back in a week or so when I've run it.

cheers

Well the vodka star took 5 days from start to 990 SG to ferment 6kg of sugar. Not too bad for minimal care and attention to heating. It smells quite nice as well so I'll see how it goes on the weekend.

Once when I was starting out and knew nothing I used a packet of turbo yeast to restart a stuck beer ferment. Yeast is yeast rite? :laughing-rolling: Finished fast but wasn't very popular with the boys at Friday nite beers.
