Reckon it would hold around 12 litres :D

so its basically just a funnel with a really long spout and a small tap at the bottom right?

is there a small filter in there to stop the charcoal coming out? or are the grains too big to make it through the tap?

I think I might make something like this.... using bits and bobs from bunnings and the kitchen...

Mines at the welders at the moment
A 19 litre keg [no good for beer ] 2 in tri clamp on the bottom dropping in 2 in copper for 300 mm then a 2 in elbow reducing to1 in for 800 horizontal then a 3/4 tri clamp to a 1/4 needle valve
Why so large my average run delivers 15 litres of 40 % so tip it all in the keg let it sit for a day and then slowly drain off [easy ]
Photos to follow :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I wanna know about the cuts now :)

Obviously discarding the fores generously.... if you chuck the whole thing through a carbon filter, how does it taste?

Well Boomgate .I had (still do but don't use ) on of those HBS still spirits reflux stills that averaged around 70% on a run .Cuts were piss off the first 50 ml and collect down to about 60% .65% IF you weren't too greedy.
Would carbon filter this shit and it tasted pretty clean. That was turbo too so yeah...carbon is magic stuff.
What I still aren't sure about is alhough it cleans up the taste and smell, does it remove the heads s well

wow, I have only tasted the result of a turbo once and I have to admit the flavour was ... uhm special.... if it gets rid of that flavour it must work!....

Short answer would be no - filter might make crap taste a little better and make it drinkable, but if there's heads in it then no amount of filtering will remove it with HBS type filters. Dunno about commercial filters and whether they could do it, but I doubt it.

Nup wouldnt work carbon works by trapping larger molecules in pores methanol is similar in size molecule as ethanol

Is anyone using a Seperatory Funnel for this?

Like this one...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separatory_funnel

I don't know if just chucking activated carbon in the bottom will do the job...

Bought this ss two potted steamer thing from the Salvo's for $9. Had copper tubing left over from making my parrot.
Still need to buy another reducer, a couple of fittings & a tap but I have plenty of time for that.

Leak test.

Thinking I won't solder the two pots together, as there will be no pressure I might just use flour paste to seal the two pots as it is a snug fit already.
Should do the job. Holds about 10L.
