Squat still

Postby tubbsy » Fri Feb 28, 2020 12:00 pm

I saw a still on Instagram the other day that I haven't seen before. It looks very short and I was wondering if anyone knew what type of still it could be?

So would that tiny pipe coming out the top right be the Lyne arm?

Not sure if thats a thermometer or pressure gauge up top if pressure gauge could be that the big round top is an inline thumper. But doubt it or I would think there would a product condenser hanging off the side. Without whole still in shot hard to tell whats going on..

At a guess its a x thousand litre stripping pot with 3x three loop elements with somewhere around 18, 27 or 36 kw and a built in worm condenser on top
Theres a few pics on google images of it and when the lid is open you can see green, their first still at a guess and now for display as more recent pics have it without the elements

I started typing this a few hours ago... beat me to it guys lols

RC, right on the money, its Larks first proper still, 500L job from memory. A display piece now in their bar in Hobart. Memories a little foggy after a sampling a few of their wares. Think I have a few photos of the distillery floating around somewhere. If you're keen can try find em.

Thanks guys. I guess I was thrown by there being no Lyne arm. I haven't see one like that before.

I would say the small pipe from the top section is an overflow back to the boiler.
