see if a magnet sticks to it, if it does stick you need to do the following:
1) chuck it in the bin
2) shout "Where's Wally"

Sigh. I went and put a magnet to my 'copper' scrubbers....

Needless too say, I don't think copper is supposed to be magnetic. So now I have about 30 - 40 scrubbers that are useless and after one use in the sink they are all rusty. (I also need to unwind my new coil to take out the 'copper' mesh I put in there. FFS.

So does anyone know of any brands (and where I could get) actual copper scrubbers? I have a hospitality store near by, and a bunnings, would coles or woolies have the copper scrubbers? Does anyone know?

Copper scrubbers pretty much dont exist in Aus, I tried my hardest to find them a few years back without success.

Have you seen the copper structured mesh packing that Amphora society sell ? they're not local but they do internet/mail order and it is a top quality product :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Cheers.

Is there a real difference between copper an SS scrubbers though?

Its going to cost me about $47 for the structured copper mesh, and I'm a penny pincher. If I have a copper column etc would I get any real benefit from the copper mesh? Or can I just go to coles with my magnet and see if I can find any?

I dont bother with copper packing mate, not in a copper column anyway.

Bunnings sells "jumbo" SS scrubbers that I've been using for years and they're great, and at $6 a pkt they're good value too.

Should only need 2 pkt's to fill a 2" column :handgestures-thumbupleft:

For satisfactory copper mesh, I strip down untinned copper welding wire (like you use for car battery leads) and roll it into balls it works okay if you cant find copper mesh anywhere else.

yeah was starting to wonder about this, my granny always used copper scubbies, she bought them from a supermarket called udunda farmers (now big river) but i haven't seen them over here and they might not be available at home now either

A package from Amphora will take less than two weeks to turn up too though you'll pay more for shipping than for the product :o .

Its great stuff.
