More a bit of fun actually,

it was a test wash/cleaner and wanted to see if the little biatch RC could hold it's own...looks crazy but ....loved playing fill the glasses up...laughed a lot.

Also wanted to test gaskets underneath the plates as a once off to make sure had no future leakies :D

Not quit happy found a few issues with PC will need to resolve

Hello Kimbo,

just used the std Irish sugar head/grain UJSM type using Max Distiller yeast so I knew what I was playing with volumes wise.

If i get a chance tonight I want to put a rum/feints small wash through it so i can take a video of a still puking...

Thanks bt. Mate, running a glass column that hard is just plain stupid. You are a valued member here, so lets keep it that way. ;-)

Ease up!

Appreciate it ain't a normal column run by any means. I've some vids of the normal runs I did as well. This vid of testing for proof of concept...nothing more nothing less.

BUT:

I need to know if this glass column will stand up. I'm not recommending or crediting anything till I'm happy. That involves some testing and adverse use. That's all it's about. Wether it seems logical ( it ain't clearly) is not the point.

I have to know if the glass will take it..if rains...oh shit do I need to shut it down... etc etc etc If it don't measure up It'll get written up as such.

This is one of the bits I enjoy...testing ...

Hopefully and so far...it taken a fair beating...dropped the whole still in the middle of a run into a bucket of tap water this arvo...no dramas great...we know a few more tolerance levels.

So rest assured by the time I write it up on my now dead original post it will be well tested and all can have confidence it's been well flogged, abused, run stupidly and pushed well over any normal use limit ...but we'll know what it's about/ or not.

Just to confirm:

On stand by each run I've had
2 ppl
2 brick stacks in front of burner
2 x Fire blankets
A modified 2kg Extinguisher with the dye for ethanol...from the racing days...thought about that one?
A std CO2 extinguisher
A garden hose and spray gun ready at arms length
A 11lt bucket filled ready
Gas has flash backs arrester, and valve
An axe
who ever said old guys get slack with safety... :teasing-neener:

I want to get to the understanding point where I can say with vids to prove, it works, or there's issues!!!

Simple really, just give me time to finish then comment.

Well DaveW if you took the time to explain things a little better at the time of posting this shit people wouldn't be jumping to conclusions would they?

You used to bang on jumping on people for safety & then post something that is extremely dangerous without explanation, what sort of reaction did you bloody expect?

I agree with kimbo.

We all like your outward thinking and your being here, nobody wants to see you go.

But please, if your going to post something controversial at least give an explanation.... and in your own topic about it. ;-)

BT .....just a word about those glasses you are using, Ive used pressure lamps more than most people. I own about 6 of them, mostly Petrol or duel fuel Coleman's with a couple of kero Tilley's thrown in, at times Ive used them as my only lighting for 6 months to a year at a time, Ive bought and broken my fair share of Glasses. In general they are pretty tough things, Ive seen them red hot and splashed with cold water when fishing, used them in pouring rain, some of them have traveled thousands of Kms on dirt roads without breaking. So yes they are pretty tough.
On the other hand, Ive been sitting by a camp fire in perfect weather and had brand new ones and sometimes not so new ones crack the full length of the glass for no apparent reason. These were all genuine Coleman or Tilly so not some cheap aftermarket shit
None of my business what you build stills out of, all Im saying is never fully trust them and never turn your back on them.

At the risk of digressigng, cats shouldn't be put on the backburner.
They should be on the front burner, and cooked quick.

Otherwise, they can go tough.
