Bokabob Column attached to T500 boiler

Hi everyone, so I've decide to have a go making a bokabob column still.

I've source 80% of the materials and I'm pretty confident about making the column (tho I'm sure I'll have a load of questions once I actually get started).
What I'm not so confident about is building a keg style boiler. Mostly due to the electrical work. So my very first question for the community is this:

Anyone had success attaching a home made copper 2" (50.8mm) column to a 30t Turbo Boiler or similar?

Piece of piss building a keg boiler. Check out the builds of many a folk here. Boilers can be as fancy or as garden variety as you like. Aint nuthin wrong with gas either. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Well.. I haven't completely ruled out a keg, especially if I have a little community support :)

Can you link me to a good/easy home build for an electric keg boiler? If it was as simple as drilling a hole, bolting in an element and some super simple electrical soldering, then I'll give it a shot. I do have a mate who could cut the hole and weld in a flange for me.

BTW are there any big advantages to a keg boiler vs one of the $150 T500 jobs?

Keg = bigger volume, more potential power, bigger column options, shorter run times. To name but a few.

Ohh yeah, didn't think about the weight issue. I'm guessing a near empty t500 with a 1m+ column on top might be a bit prone to tipping where as the keg I'm guessing has substantially more girth.

I just want a simple-ish electric build, and was hoping not to spend more than $200 (keg included). Is this possible?

I've had a go using the google search and trawled through a couple of threads, but if you guys remember seeing a good one on the forum, I'd love a link.

Take my advice, i have a T500 and the t500 boiler and i suggest going for a keg. $170 gets you 23L fill line and 2kw element. a will be far better, you can ge one for 50$ and run on gass untill you can afford the elements to wired in. I suggest 2 2400 FSD weldless :handgestures-thumbupleft:

The T500 boiler lid is flimsy :handgestures-thumbdown:

If you've got a mate that can weld stainless, and you can legally acquire a keg for less than $100, you should be able to build a simple electric keg boiler for under $200 :handgestures-thumbupleft:
