6mm or 1/4" copper tube suppliers WA or 1/4" thermowells

Postby Rumking » Sat Sep 12, 2015 8:07 pm

Hi all

I'm chasing some 6mm or 1/4inch copper tube to make some thermowells. I'm down near Rockingham in WA. I know I can get 30m roles of the stuff for around the $80-90 mark but really just need a meter at the most. The only place near me that I have found is Reece in Mandurah they will sell per M for a outrages $12.95perM :o

Refrigeration or aircon suppliers I was told to check but then again I need to by quantity.

Does anyone here have any tips on where I can get some of this rare size tube even online sellers that don't charge though the roof for shipping.

This all came about because I want to put some thermowells in my column and boiler, both all ready have a 1/4 thread welded into them but of course I can't find anywhere online any 1/4" thermowells all seem to be 1/2". So again if anyone knows of a source of 1/4" thermowells then that would be the preferred option otherwise I have no choice but to make some up.

Thanks guys

Jono

Check with individual refrigeration mechanics. They will buy it in the rolls and cut into smaller for their jobs.

A good back story is that it's needed for marine fuel lines.

I just got 3mtr of it and only cost me 2 beers at the pub hah.

The other alternative is ebay sell it in 3mtr lots.

Plumbers rarely use 1/4" - is mostly used in the aircon / refrigeration industry.

Just go to a scrapy, .25", .5" and .75" are what the general public cash in the most.

I don't know if there's one near you, but I grabbed a pancake of it for a reasonable price from Masters not too long a go. It's not listed on their web site but it might be worth a look in-store.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.
