What should I build with this lot?

I am a real slow learner. I have only just finished my Back shed Boka and now I am wondering what to do with some of my surplus materials. I have 1.7m of 4" copper, 1.3m of 2-1/2" copper, 10.5m of 2"" tube, 1m of 1-1/2" tube, 4x 1-1/2" 90 elbows and plenty of 1", 3/4" and 1/2" pipe. Also got some 3/8" and 1/2 SS tube.

I know I said its not worth building your own still - but....

If I built a 4" plate or bubbler, is the 1-1/2" too small for a shotgun condenser for it?

Or,
Do I make a pot still out of the 2-1/2" with 1-1/2" condenser?

Or,
Buy 5 x FSD SG tees and make my own accessories for a 4" neutraliser?

Maybe I should just sell the lot and give up drinking but I need something to do. Please help.

2 and a half inch you say? that will be awesome. i use 2" 500mm long and i only need a dribble of water with 2kW. my 2" bubbler uses maybe 150ml a min water for water going into my 2" 500mm PC then into 2" RC, maybe even less. up scaled to a 4" RC and 2.5" PC it should be good too

if you have 2.5" then you will be sweet :handgestures-thumbupleft:

1.5" will work but might need to be 700mm long to be as effective. i would use the 2.5"

or even the 2". forget the 1.5" you have 10.5m of 2" !!!

Thanks WTDist,
My mistook - I only have 0.5m of 2" (fat fingers) :angry-banghead:
If I had more 2" I would definitely use that.

If I build a condenser for a pot still I would like to be able to carry it over to a 4" neutraliser later.
Maybe I just skip the pot still and use my Boka (with short colum- no packing)

Make a 4" pot with a 2.5" shotty PC. Build with easy flanges, then when you get excited, bolt an RC on top, plates underneath and there you have it, a bubbler.

Go a glasser straight up 90% of the material is there. Or gift the 4" to me for my next project :))

You have got most of the materials to make a great bubbler :handgestures-thumbupleft:
Go for it :music-deathmetal:

I'm sorry mate but that is a stupid question :teasing-nutkick: :laughing-rolling: A Bubbler of course :happy-partydance:

You've got everything you need there. Like was said 2.5" will be great for a pc, I would also say your .5m 2" would do for a shotty anyway. Trust me that boka is a great starter but once the stilln bug bites you'll want to build a bubbler. Stash it away for a few months and I bet you'll end up building a bubbler.

Good luck with whatever you choose, happy building :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I'ver got a 500mm long 2.5" shotty PC with 7 x 1/2" tubes inside
It's a bloody beast, I can run my pot still at 13-15L an hour stripping and it only uses a steady dribble of water to knock down the vapour

Picked up some more copper from scrap yard today. So now I have good selection of 1/2", 3/4' 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2, 2", 2-1/2, 3" and 4". I have no excuses now not to build a bubbler. I only have 1-1/4 and 2" bends but I don't really want to be jumping around too much in sizes.
It sounds like 4" column with 2-1/2" product condenser (450 long) would be a good balance. Any recommendations for the off take size (4x3" block head then reducing down to the 2-1/2" after the bend)??

It's just a matter of sourcing some suitable bends and reducers. Will probably buy the FSD 4"SG tees and make the rest.

I have 4.8kw of heating in my boiler and plenty of cooling water available so hopefully will turn turn into a good unit.

Will start a new thread as the build commences. If anyone close by needs some copper tubing for a project I will have plenty to spare.

Go the 4 to 3inch blockhead just because you can :music-deathmetal:
Can't wait to see your build Groggy. Just remember plenty of pics :D
