He from Northern Europe

Say Hi and introduce yourself

He from Northern Europe

Postby Prunus » Fri Oct 24, 2014 4:56 am

Hej to everybody,

i am from Northern Europe and much interested in distilling. Not for alcohol only, more for getting the best out of
mashable fruits. I build my stills by myself and optimize them all the time.

regards

Hej,
i am not interested in Rum, Whisky or Neutral.
My obsession is mashing all kinds of fruits. Especially
mostly forgotten ones. Thats why i use so much copper.
Copper is most effective in the boiler.
Actually i try to find a step into the GIN Scene.

Why do you say that copper is better than stainless for the boiler?

Hej,
there are lot of Universitys in Switzerland, Austria, Germany who made lot of experiences with copper and stainless steel Stills. And it's fact, that a copperboiler has the most positive effect on a fruitmash. Important: i am talking only about fruit mashes. i think, thats not so much important for the " Neutral-Rum-Whisky" Section.
All Stills of the best Distillers in Europe have so much copper inside, but only to the point of no return. after that point they use all stainless steel.

So it's better because of reasons, I see...

I understand that copper in the vapour path is essential for sulphide removal, I'm intrigued as to how it has any effect on the liquid wash though...
