I look forward to picking the brains of you all I have decided to upgrade my 2" reflux column and take the plunge in building my own 4" modular flute, I apologize in advance if I have too many question.

I have started a cut list based on a few designs I have seen on this forum and will post pics as progress start on my build fingers crossed all goes smoothly

Just watch that U-bend on your parrot.
You have to fill all of it before it starts coming out the top, which can lead to smearing of fractions.

Typical cut size is 200mL-300mL.

As long as you have a tube that drops down from your PC long enough to get the top of the parrot lower than the bottom of the PC, it wont pool up in the bottom of the PC and seal the still off from atmosphere, before it starts coming out the top of the parrot.

And what i was getting at was be aware of how much liquid your parrot holds, less will mean cleaner cuts and more will mean more smearing.
And less smearing means more hearts cut.

Most people only have the section where the alcometer is just big enough to allow for a proper reading , you want a small buffer distance under the alcometer so you dont risk smashing it when you first gently put it in the parrot.

Most people use 1" for the alcometer section and then a smaller diameter tube for fluid delivery to the alcometer tube, this minimises total possible volume of the entire parot.
1/2" is a good size for delivery tubing.

You also need a bit of room around the alcometer for the spirit to flow, run of the mill alcometers only just fit in a 3/4" copper tube, but using this size will make the alcometer bob around when the distillate tries to flow past it.
1" copper tubing has enough space around the alcometer to allow smooth flow and the alcometer does not bob around.

Gotta I was gonna reduce to 12mm after the elbow but I might change that and do it before and use a 12mm elbow
