Hello all

Say Hi and introduce yourself

Hello all

Postby bline » Wed Jun 14, 2017 2:35 pm

Hey guys,
Long time lurker, first time poster.

Just like to thank everyone who has posted ideas, results, comments and experience on this forum. It has been a wealth of knowledge when i first decided to give this past time a crack. I ended up making a 4" CM reflux/pot still, 1500mm tall, 2" shotgun condenor (5 x 1/2"), drop in shotgun reflux condensor (attached to take off plate port, idea thanks to bushman on hd) on a 50L keg with gas.

Currently have done two first gen mcrum strip washes (2 x 60L fermenters), and now have two 2nd gen washes bubbling away nicely. Decided to do 6L molassis and 6L sugar at 45L, for a bit more flavour.

:text-thankyoublue:

Cheers

Im with ya on that one Zac, my idea was to get it up and running/learning the behavoir of both pot and refluxing stills, then modify up. Atm sourcing staino booker rod and coper sheet, i have heard people saying the older water heaters have copper inside them, but was unsure of the thickness of sheeting

Could always cut a 200mm off the bottom of your current column and flatten it out :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yeah did that with the top an bottom of reflux, but was trying to chase something as close as i can get to dead flat, to use in a cnc machine. I had a bit of trouble last time getting it flat enough, also i trimmed / shaped with grinder :shifty: . Was hoping to use mates cnc for the plates this time to get that all important snugg fit, as ive been told cnc's dont like bumps

Very very true mate. Let us know how you go..... For what it's worth, a copper hot water system is usually made out of pretty thin sheet.
