G'day - What do you do with your dunder?

Postby Yourmomm » Sun Aug 06, 2017 5:05 pm

Hi. Brand newbie here, so sorry if this question is dumb...

I've been reading about stripping runs in a pot still, and that people generally stop the run at ABV 25%, as the heating costs outweigh the yield, from hereon...

So I read that, when making rum in a pot still, you can keep the dunder to flavour the rum...is there anything you can do with the dunder from a pot stilled stripping run, when using birdwatchers, to make neutral? Do people keep it, or throw it away?

I HATE waste....

Cheers in advance,

Mom

Neutral boiler slops?(backset dunder) dont think its of use idea of neutral is no flavour. But with rum whiskey its all about the flavour which is why backset/dunder is added to rum whiskey. To compound the flavour.. i dont think you want tomato pasted flavoured spirit..

After its cool add some hydrated Lyme to get the pH up to 7ish and use it as a fertiliser on the garden.
With rum strip down to 20% as alot of the good flavours/oils are in the 20 to 25%

Oh and welcome
