I am also Perth (North of River) with a brand new copper T500.

Did you do anything special with respect to cleaning prior to your first run ?
How did you first run turn out ?
Did you just do a sacrificial run as your first run or did you end up drinking it ?

Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt
welcome and yes I am new to this also :P
Didnt clean anything, just used the turbo wash that came with it.
made about 9 x cuts and kept the middle cuts to make around 1.5L of 95%
turned out ok for a first timer and drank the lot over christmas

Have done 3 x TPW's now and loving it, each run I learn something about the T500 and how to taste the cuts.

Cheers

Thanks for the quick response.
Once I have a couple of runs down we will have do do a swap.
Currently have a TPW and Turbo washes fermenting and was worried about whether I needed to do a cleaning run.
Cheers
Matt.

You should always do a sacrificial cleaning run at the every least on any new still Mattq71. Just in case there's any nasties left over from the manufacturing process. I would use your turbo for this as it's not going to make a good drinkable spirit anyway. Save the output from this run to use as a cleaning charge for your next still when you decide the T500 is no longer meeting your requirements.

+1 on popping into the welcome centre introducing yourself.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.
