G'day everyone, been reading a heap of info on here so thought I may as well say hello.

New to this but I'm keen to have a go. I'm slowly collecting the gear to get up and running.

Just want a pretty basic pot still but will be a little bit till I have everything, (the downside of doing stuff on the cheap/free lol), but that's just time to read more.

Cheers fellas

Welcome Hangman.

Have a look at some of the pot still designs in the pot stills section for some inspiration. You should be able to knock one up for not too much coin if you're half way competent with tools. Make it modular so you can expand to a bubbler later on if you so desire.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

Favourite drink? Probably Jack, or if if I'm cheap Old No. 15. Which is a fair facsimile of Jack, to me anyway.

I've already read a fair bit about the process as it's not a new interest, just putting thoughts into action. But you never stop learning so I'll be reading plenty more.

Modular means removable column? I've got a 50L keg to use as the boiler.

Thanks for the welcome fellas

Unfortunately I seem to feature there quite a bit :angry-banghead: :laughing-rolling:

It's always easier to learn from someone else's f&*k ups :handgestures-thumbupleft:

No doubt I'll have my share of fuck ups, but it's usually less painful to learn from other people's mistakes lol

Trust me on this, my ability to turn a condenser build into a sprinkler is legendary :laughing-rolling: I’ve got irrigation companies trying to head hunt me.

Read up, have fun, learn lots. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hahaha yeah that's the plan mate.
Already learned a lot from reading, but theory only goes so far without the practical part. Looking forward to it.

Welcome hangman! :greetings-waveyellow:
You will be glad you signed up and if your like me wondering why you didn't do it earlier. Browsing this site as a guest allows you to learn heaps, but there is so much more to be had if you can view everyones photos and share your experiences. They often explain more than write ups or better anyway.

Haven't yet lol.
A lot of info, but not overwhelming as I'll be starting simple so mainly focusing on the basics.
And got a few laughs while I'm at it.

I should have a still over the weekend. I know I mentioned a pot in my initial post but have ended up with a basic backyard reflux, which will do to start.

More stuff to collect yet, (something to ferment in, thermometer, got some but need more collection jars, etc etc), but getting there.
I've also kept all my empty spirit bottles for years so they'll come in handy
