Hi,

Just bought a t500 kit from Brewcraft seeing they was on sale even with the 25ltr boiler. Yes i know why a t500. Meh no kids double income looking to waste my money like all of my hobbies.

Been home brewing for over 13 years mostly just ciders and ginger beer. Looking to try the next lvl and piss the wife off with yet another hobby eg 3d printing, jerky making, rc models, fishing, shooting etc

Just put down my first TPW and let the waiting game begin :)

Welcome Mate, if you really want to piss her off, ditch the T500 and buy a FSD Bubbler :D , lots of info here on how to run the T500 the right way. Good to see you are going straight to a TPW, you've obviously done a bit of research :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Welcome mate, the T500 will teach you a lot about distilling for a starting point :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You've come to the right place to learn lots abouts your new direction in your brewing hobby. I started making cider and ginger beer too as i wasn't a big beer drinker... all good fun!

Welcome Cookie.

The T500 isn't so bad; it's capable of making high quality neutral spirits however many folks outgrow it's capabilities fairly quickly.

First thing you should do is ignore the distilling instructions that came with it and have a read of the Running a T500, the Proper Way thread. Also have read of Kiwistiller's Novice Guide to Cuts and Fractions. These will help you get the best from your T500.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

Quick question.
My tpw has now settled at .990 about 12%ABV all up.
So im going to give it 2 days to make sure it's fully settled.
What is as clear as tpw gets before it's ok to disitll apart from waiting for the sg to stablize?
I have put a pic of what it looks like now.

A week settling would be best. Well 6 months would be best but a week is good enough 8-}

Yep staring small and seeing how it goes. As I don’t really drink apart from ginger beer and ciders most of my product will go to my work mates to enjoy. For me it’s all about the science and making something as good as I can.
I’m surprised by the smells in the house as it comes out.

Will smell better once you stop using turbo branded packet mixes.

I believe what "jumping on" relates to the plastic outlet and other failings of the T500 still design.

Please do your mates a favour and look at the "how to run a t500 properly" thread

And unless you like drinking plastic collect in glass or stainless steel, plastic will poison you.

Welcome and enjoy your stay.
