Say Hi and introduce yourself

New Member from Brisbane.

G'day all,
Just a quick note to introduce myself. I live in Brisbane, Queensland. I'm retired from the workforce, but the wife keeps me busy with odd jobs(should of stayed at work). I just purchased a 4 litre Air Still Kit, not sure why, as I'm not a big drinker. Anyway, put down my first batch last week using the items supplied with the kit. I followed the instruction to the letter (my first mistake) but at the end of the distilling process the spirit had a funny smell. After reading a number of posts on this and other forums I now know why.

I joined this forum so I could gain some knowledge of how to produce a good drop to drink, and share.

Cheers
Tedwood

Welcome here mate, good work that you figured out rather quickly what the instructions say are absolute rubbish and should only be used to wipe your arse with :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You will find all you need to know here ;-)

G'day mate and welcome.

The air still is more of a pot still than reflux still so I would suggest a CFW or NGW recipe from the tried and proven recipe section. (There's a link up the top of the page). These washes will give you a very simple and nice whiskey that won't need any home brew shop ingredients.

Try a few of the links in my signature for some good advice on beginning in home distilling. All the best mate :handgestures-thumbupleft:
