Long Time Lurker

Say Hi and introduce yourself

Long Time Lurker

Postby Pour Decision » Thu Jun 28, 2018 3:18 pm

Hi All,

Given the fact that 5 Star Distilling is changing ownership and will be out of action for a while I thought I should finally become a member and contribute to the forum. Whilst you may not be able to buy from 5 Star in the short term you may be prompted to build instead of buy. I figured if that's the case then the more build info on here the better.

Having used the info on this forum I have already built a 2" Boka, 4" copper Flute and a 4" Glass Bubbler. I'm very happy with the plated stills but I just don't have the time to run them so I decided that a 6" Bubble Cap Copper Flute still was in order. I have made a start on it and will now start a build thread for others to follow along on my journey.

I also figured it's a great time to support the forum financially as well so I have donated what I could and hope others will do the same as it would be a shame if the forum died due to financial reasons.

Well that's it for now but look out for the build thread titled "Pour Decision".

Cheers.

Thanks for the welcome mate.

I only have one picture of the "family" and it was before the copper flute was complete so I was robbing bits off the Glass Bubbler.

Looks unfinished to me.
Also looking suspiciously like a commercial venture

I''m away with work at the moment so haven't had too much time to reply to your questions.

DB 1979
The parrot was unfinished at that point in time. I have finished it now but don't have a picture with me of it finished. I do have a picture of it when I was trying to bend 1/2" copper by hand and kinked it so the bend looks crap. I have since bought a 1/2" pipe bender and the result was much better. If I remember when I get home I will upload a pic of it finished.

Hey Stig, I'd be interested to know why you think its a "commercial Venture".

bluc, those stills pictured are both 4" on 4" to 2" reducers. I have since changed the boiler to be 4" instead of 2" and it is much more stable. The 6" column will get a new boiler with a 6" flange for attachment.
