Hello from the south coast of NSW!

Been reading this online and decided to join up! I recently purchased a pure distilling HB kit from Victoria and Ive had only 2 runs with the turbo washes.

Looking forward to mixing up my first TPW and doing some cuts as I’ve read on here it’s much better to do!

Any advise is welcomed and I hope to run into you on the forum

I’m also interested to know if anyone has any tips to make my still a bit better? I’ve seen posts about modifying the T500 stills but not any puredistilling stills. Let me know if I’ve missed a topic

Good idea to get right onto a TPW! Give that turbo stuff a miss.
The PD reflux still is a good still for a starter.. thats what i started with.
I didnt do any alterations to mine, just made a simple pot still to fit onto the 30ltr boiler. Some people talk about pulling the packing out to get some flavour retention for rum or bourbon while others suggest not to touch it. A pot would be a much better option.

There's some good links for beginners in my signature below.

Have a good read around but try not to overwhelm yourself, keep it simple to start with and learn as you go. Don't try change everything at once. Get some good spirit happening and the rest will come :handgestures-thumbupleft:

equipment: 4 plate 6" copper bubbler, 6 plate 4" glass bubbler with 500mm packed section three way thumper sitting on a 50 ltr keg boiler with 6000watts, 2" pot still and a 2" boka.

Thanks for the reply’s guys

I’ll look into a pot still attachment to the boiler and looking forward to trying a different approach to making the spirit. Those bubbler set ups you guys have in your signatures look pretty cool! What are they and how do they work?

I’ve currently got a lot of my fist two runs sitting on chips and tried the cordial approach with a few liters and I don’t mind them.
Cant wait to try this TPW and how the spirit will be after compared to the turbos.

What’s your advise on cuts then filtering? I read different opinions

No need to filter if you cut well. You can if you want a real clean sipping vodka but not necessary.
