Hi All

Longtime stalker (a few months really) first time poster..

Sooooo I pulled my old, old, old .......old reflux still out of the cupboard a few months ago and decided it was time to get back into it again, its been since 2002. Full rookie mistake HBS products bought and then I found this site (thank the looorrrd). I'll use what I've got till I'm ready to upgrade. I have an old reflux with the..., now don't shoot me just yet, single marble in it.... I now know I need to use copper scrubbers to pack this. Can anyone help with where to get these as we are limited to access to 'good' HBS in Darwin.
Anyhoo TPW was the second wash and stilled with no stripping run or cuts, dear lord where have you been all my life. Its only up from here. The taste is completely different with no turbo, no carbon additives, no filtering and cheaper, my kind of hobby.
I can see my self getting a bigger fermenter in the very near future.

That's it for now keep up the good work boys and girls.

Billy

Coastie you will not be disappointed. The pleasure of not clearing or carbon filtering is exhilarating.

Does anyone have a good place to get copper mesh from, probably online?

Hey mate, :greetings-waveyellow: welcome.

I think I've heard of blokes getting copper scrubbers from bunnings. When you go to buy them use a magnet to check if they are full copper. If the magnet sticks theres a good chance they're just copper coated and will rust out very quick and make a hell of a mess. Is your still copper or stainless? If it's copper you can use stainless strubbers instead, they're a bit easier to find.

Good luck

I've rigged up this pump system that I had made from some stuff from an old workplace and use the pool to run it through

Welcome mate, i've got the 5l version of yours, slow but versatile, just ran some nutrigrain whiskey with a 1.5 spirit run ( used some wash instead of water to dilute from the 59% I got from the marble free pot still run, adds flavour) bloody fantastic.

Mine works much better with individual cooling lines
The output needs to be replaced with some copper or stainless
A power controller will help if you try to pot still (and be useful for any future upgrades)
A blanket will help heat up times, I remove it when pulling fores and heads and put it back on later in the run
