G'day to all

Say Hi and introduce yourself

G'day to all

Postby Maximus_Moonshine » Fri Aug 03, 2018 1:23 pm

Hi All,

I'm Chris and I'm located near Beechworth in North East Victoria.
Very pleased to join the forum. I'm sure I am similar to many others in that I thought I'd done a lot of research before launching into my first sugar washes. Then I found this forum and thought "Hmmm - Wish I'd come here first!" However, I'm here now and I am enjoying and benefiting hugely from your combined expertise. Loving the hobby and can see that I have a big learning curve ahead of me.
Cheers
Chris

Thanks all for the welcomes.

Welcome fellow victorian! What spirits do you drink Chris?

I'm a bourbon man myself, but also enjoy rum (good quality rum that is) and gin.

My long term goal is to be able to craft a bourbon style whisky that will stand up against the best! For the time being though, I'm trying to master the basics. Starting with creating neutrals from a TPW, then I'll try gin using botanicals. After I feel competent at those, I might try a rum and then graduate to mashing and whiskies. That's the plan anyway.

Cheers

Welcome mate

You already have a pot still, space & fermenters permitting, jump in and have a go of the rum - its barely a step up from a basic sugar wash, doing the generations thing isnt hard at all with the recipes on this site. I put off starting the "harder" sugar washes due to my small still size - now ive got it happening and my processes sorted , very happy with the results and wished i had started sooner, started with the nutrigrain wash and about to start my 2nd gen of an all corn BKWO

Welcome to AD Chris.

If you’re keen to try a rum, give Mac’s Recipe a go, it’s a super simple recipe and makes a cracking Rum.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

Thanks for that!

Right, I'm all enthused now about doing a rum. Will try to source some molasses next week.

Cheers
