Fellas,

Me best mate and myself have purchased one of these boilers a few years ago as newbies without doing much research haha but seriously she's done us well...

She had ceramic chisels in the column and we pull it apart and clean it every 5 boils or so but lately there has been a horrible odour in the column that no amount of vinegar and bottle brush can rid!

Is there any other options we can try as I'm about to turf the bloody ceramic and replace with stainless scrubbers...

Any advice is well recieved and any wisdom i can take from you fella's the better!!

Perhaps it's an accumulation of long chain carboxylic acids, vinegar won't help with them. Try soaking them in bicarb and see if that helps.

Gday mate, welcome here, first up those ceramic saddles are just nasty after a while, replace them with stainless scourers stainless saddles.
Also, have you read running a t500 the proper way?

I read that the other night, it's what made me sign up to the forum and the reason im tryin to clean my columns (I've got 2 T500's) putting in the stainless scrubbers and giving it a go.

I will definitely be upgrading stills one day but will master this one before i do

If it stinks and won't go away it's likely an acid or a base. Vinegar will take care of bases but not acids. If it's the column that stinks, soak it in bicarb. If that doesn't help, I'm not sure what you should do.

I'd try boiling the ceramics in water for 10mins or so

I just put the columns (empty) in the bath with bi-carb and the odour has already gone! I wouldn't have thought to do that so thank you for insight man solvered my problem :handgestures-thumbupleft:
