:text-+1: Keep the boiler and there is stuff in the 5 Star store you will not go wrong with and you can build up slow and get flavor with

Welcome to AD reaper249.

To get faster takeoff, you'll need a larger diameter still. 4" is most common at hobby level however you'll need a bigger boiler if you go for that option as the T500 boiler won't be able to handle the weight. FSD do a 50 litre milk can which is a top notch boiler and couples perfectly with their Neutraliser. Alternatively you can go with a keg boiler but that would involve a little DIY to add the elements and still mount. If you're really handy you could go the full DIY route and grab yourself some copper and make your own plated column with a packed section; there are plenty of posts in the Plated Column Stills section to whet your appetite.

Having said all that, what kind of spirits are you looking to make? If you're not really looking for neutral and are using what you make with your T500 to add cordials for whiskey or rum flavoured beverages then a pot still and a suitable wash would be a good start.

Something else to consider is where you do your stilling. Faster runs require larger stills which require more space in which to run. A full Neutraliser (5 plates with 500mm packed section) on a 50 litre milk can will not fit under a 2400mm high ceiling for example.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

Welcome mate :greetings-waveyellow:

Many people start out with the T500 and get sick of the slowness. Others don't mind it and use them every day. It's whatever suits you. It will give you a good start and if you decide you want to upgrade there are endless ideas on this forum.

Have a good read around and have some fun :handgestures-thumbupleft:
