Hi, I’ve been lurking about for a while trying to gain an understanding around distilling. I’ve been doing the Country Wine Making thing for a few years and learnt a fair bit about that while making more than my fair share of stuff ups along the way. Think I might be getting close to trying a new challenge.
I’ve had a long chat with my liver and while it isn’t thrilled, it sort of understands that I need to have a go at distilling.

Thanks Prof Green, I think I have read most of newbie corner over the last 8 months some of it twice and some will get another look before I’m done. For me personally the Scotch, Bourbon and Rum trifecta holds the most interest but I also would go a long way towards keeping the hugs and kisses happy if I could produce a good Sambucca and the odd bit of decent vodka. Before long I will need advice around stills, or confirmation of what understandings I have gleaned from here so far.
With the wine making I keep interested by chasing new flavours so I imagine I will want to do the same with distilling.

Thanks mate, I’m afraid I will have to pay a premium and buy one, I just don’t have the metal working skill set needed. At this point though, I don’t think I particularly want to go the Turbo 500, sugar wash and commercial flavouring route either. I think there is something fundamentally wrong with me, in that, I always seem to take the harder option when it’s presented.

Yeah I did the same, I started and gave up.
