Hello everyone

Hi
I found this forum by accident and have to say I love it! So much information - it will take me a long time to read everything and process it. I bought an air still maybe 10 years ago and was using Turbo for a short time with limited success (the instructions were to run the still for 2 hours ( i put it on a timer) and the distillate went into a little bag of activated carbon and then into the jug. ) I was brewing a lot of beer at the time so the still seemed a logical extension. I was planning to go back to Turbo for the still recently as I thought it might have got better when i found this forum and I have just put on 23 litres of TPW and it is happily fermenting away as I write. I am interested in making a good neutral spirit so I can experiment with infusions (fruit, various teas, herbs and spices, lollies!) and cream liqueurs (I did a Nutella liqueur before Xmas which was very yummy and nice over ice cream as well).
Cheers
Carol

Certainly a lot here to read... dont get to worried about trying to understand and remember it all straight away, it will make sense and stick as you do more and more.
One thing i would however try and get your head around is doing cuts the propper way.. heres a link if you haven't already read this must read!

Hey mate welcome :greetings-waveyellow:

As been said already the air still isn't the best for neutrals. It's more of a pot still. I'd be checking out the cereal washes in the tried and proven section :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Good luck

Welcome Carol.

I second using a cereal based wash in your air still. The air still will probably not be able to strip out all of the tomato flavour unless you distill multiple, multiple times. You are effectively making tomato whiskey! At least with the the cereal based washes, any residual flavour in the distillate will be pleasant.

There's also a really handy thread on getting the best out of your air still here.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.
