How much do you throw out when running the tomato paste wash through the still. 25 litre gives me around three liters 96% I have been throwing out 250ml

I'm only new but from the few 25L TPW's i've done all I keep is about 2L from a run of hearts, everything before that is just used for cleaning duties and I don't bother with distilling tails. That's 2-2.2L of 96% so 5L roughly @ 40%. Only doing a single run

I do 47 litres at around 45% for a spirit run.
I take out the first 3 litres as fores before taking off product.
Then watch the alcometer, when it drops toward 85% I kill the run, as tails come in below 85%.

I usually only keep 50% so 1.5L of your 3L.

Goes down like warm water!

They make ethanol fireplaces would be a good use for what is not drinkable not sure how anyone who has one of these can afford to buy ethanol.

$14 for 4L definitely not the cheapest heating but in our case could be a good way to use up the feints!

when you say youre chuckin gout 250ml, is that the fores (the first spirits from your run)? If so , that's ok (200ml is safe too). If you're saving all the rest then you're mixing up your heads, hearts and tails meaning youre not exactly keeping the very best parts of your run (heads). there's a post on this site that teaches you how to do cuts with your still (Kiwi's guide to cuts). Take a look at it, might save you a few sunday morning hangovers! :handgestures-thumbupleft:
