I thought I'd say hello and introduce myself to what I hope will be an ongoing adventure.
Absolutely brand new to any type of Brewing/distilling so please ignore my ignorance. I have recently purchased my first still (Air still mini) and at current my first wash is sat at 22 degrees and hopefully behaving itself. I will be clearing it in 4/5 days time so will let you all know how I get on.
I was reading quite a few posts whilst I awaited acceptance to the forum and am already impressed by the amount of information, by the sound of it there are some serious, very serious distillers out there. Perhaps you all play in a different league to my little Air still. Hopefully I can gain enough information and street cred, to join you with a much bigger DIY still.

Welcome to the hobby
Some of us started on air stills and there are a few members who still use them.
We don’t judge, but chances are you will grow out of it very quickly like most of us did :laughing-rolling:

I am a fairly new member of AD and have learned a lot in a very short time. This group are very helpful.
I have an air still (at least for now but am planning to upgrade). Professor Green's links are definitely worth reading. A stripping run followed by a spirit run (while very time consuming with an air still) make a world of difference to the taste of your final product.

The wealth of knowledge on here is quite remarkable.. you have come to the right place to learn.
Dont be too hard on your still, as previously said a lot of us have had modest starts too and if you stay in the hobby you will catch up for sure. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

From small things big things grow. The air still will give you a start or it may well suit your needs, you'll work thst out as you go.

- equipment: 4 plate 6" copper bubbler, 6 plate 4" glass bubbler with 500mm packed section three way thumper sitting on a 50 ltr keg boiler with 6000watts, 2" pot still and a 2" boka.
