Back in the game

Started brewing again after 10+years noticed things have changed in the distilling world but most of the basics are the same .
Using a reflux still Keg king ML 25 B same dog as t500 im thinking.
Probably started on the wrong foot im using tubo classic yeast and 8kg caster sugar have run the first batch through tossed the first 200 ml then collected nearly 4lt at 92% didn't do my cuts :angry-banghead: so after reading a bit more will be doing this for sure next time as got some funky taste of what i assume is tails.
So i cut it back to 40% and triple carbon filtered it all chucked 2lt on bourbon chips for 5 days so far and i gotta say pretty dang good.
Also infused some cardomon, coriander and mandarin zest boiled up in a pot let sit for 24hr mad e up a gin with it turned out awsome .
Great site guys i know i will be pestering you all to gain more insight as i will move away from turbos in the future.

Welcome Brad.

Any one of the neutral recipes in the Tried and Proven section will be better than the turbos and with good cuts won't need filtering. That being said, if you're going to oak your spirits I think you're better off making or buying a pot still to fit your boiler and running one of the cereal based washes.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

Cheers professor as i remember doing turbos in the past i look back in horror at some of the shit we did.
Good info on the washes and stills you guys use sure seems cheaper and a better end product to boot.
